Organised by the Department of Surgery and overseen by Prof. Dr György Lázár, a 3-day accredited international course took place, titled: “Improving the skills of medical staff in minimally invasive colorectal surgery of colorectal cancers and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)”.
According to the course description, on the first day participants got an insight into the following the topics: The significance of endoscopic diagnostics in colorectal cancer; Neoadjuvant therapy in oncologic treatment for colorectal cancer, the timing of surgical intervention; The role of minimally invasive surgery in colon cancer treatment, with evidence based data; Technical considerations in laparoscopic surgery for colorectal cancer; Operating room demonstration. On the second day the following topics were discussed: Gastroenterology treatment for IBD, determining the right surgical indications; The role of laparoscopic technique in IBD surgery; The role of traditional surgery techniques in IBD surgery; Technical considerations in IBD surgery; Operating room demonstration. On the third day participants talked about these topics: The role of laparoscopic technique in the treatment of acute abdominal problems - evidences; Palliative solutions in laparoscopic surgery for colorectal cancer; The role of intraoperative endoscopy in laparoscopic surgery for colorectal cancer; Resuscitation knowledge - ALS; Operating room demonstration.
